Governor Ademola Adeleke has secured re-election in Osun State following the August 15 governorship poll, polling 511,067 votes to defeat his nearest challenger. The Accord party candidate topped his closest rival, All Progressives Congress nominee Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, who gathered 444,815 votes—a margin of approximately 66,000 votes.
President Bola Tinubu issued a formal statement congratulating Adeleke on the election result, with the message distributed through Bayo Onanuga, the President's media adviser. Tinubu's office characterized the outcome as confirmation of voter confidence in the governor's leadership and noted that the electoral process itself reinforced the health of Nigeria's democratic system.
Former Peoples Democratic Party National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus also extended congratulations to Adeleke in a separate message released on Sunday. Secondus framed the victory as evidence of public trust transcending party lines, suggesting the re-election reflected broader satisfaction with Adeleke's stewardship rather than a straightforward party triumph.
Adeleke's return to office marks continuity in Osun's leadership and demonstrates electoral resilience in a state where gubernatorial contests have historically been closely contested. The election drew acknowledgment from figures across Nigeria's political spectrum, indicating broad acceptance of the result across competing interests.
