Nigeria Boosts Local Military Hardware Production

Nigeria is intensifying efforts to bolster its indigenous defence industry by establishing local production lines for military hardware, including armoured vehicles and anti-drone systems. This initiative is led by the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria-D7G in partnership with Eagles International for Defence Systems.
Chief Executive Officer of DICON-D7G, Osman Chennar, announced this development following a two-day inspection tour of military production facilities in Cairo, Egypt, by Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, and his delegation. The partnership is projected to create over 200 jobs and provide opportunities for approximately 100 retired military personnel.
It aims to facilitate the transfer of advanced defence technologies to Nigeria, enabling the local manufacture of various military platforms, including the Armoured Multi-Purpose Vehicle BR6 and MRAP-Buffalo vehicles. Additionally, DICON-D7G plans to develop a military jetty in Lagos to support logistics for military equipment, expected to launch within two to three months, creating further employment opportunities.
