Court of Appeal Launches ADR Centre in Port Harcourt

The Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt celebrated its 50th anniversary by unveiling a new Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) center, marking a significant step in strengthening access to justice and promoting timely dispute resolution. President Monica Dongban-Mensem described the occasion as an opportunity for the court to reflect on its enduring contributions to Nigeria's jurisprudence.

The special sitting included various dignitaries, such as the Attorney General of Rivers State and former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Chief O.C.J. Okocha, who expressed gratitude for the arrangements made to facilitate the event.

The sitting featured 17 panels comprising 51 justices, who heard a total of 357 appeals and 272 motions throughout the week. Dongban-Mensem acknowledged the collaborative support from the Attorney General of Bayelsa State and highlighted the importance of the special sitting in addressing the backlog of cases in the Port Harcourt division.
