CAF Penalizes Senegal and Morocco Players for Misconduct in AFCON 2025 Final

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed penalties on several players and officials from Senegal and Morocco following rule violations during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final. Senegal's coach, Pape Bouna Thiaw, received a five-match ban and a $100,000 fine for bad behavior.

Two Senegalese players, Iliman Cheikh Baroi Ndiay and Ismaila Sarr, were banned for two matches each for showing disrespect to the referee. The Senegalese Football Federation was fined $300,000 for the behavior of fans and improper conduct by players and staff.

On the Moroccan side, defender Achraf Hakimi was banned for two matches, while midfielder Ismaël Saibari received a three-match ban and a $100,000 fine. The Moroccan Football Federation was fined $200,000 for poor behavior at the stadium and disrupting the VAR review.

Additionally, Moroccan fans using a laser during the game were penalized. The penalties highlight CAF's commitment to upholding fair play and discipline in African football.
