Super Eagles Depart for Guinea-Bissau AFCON Qualifier

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have departed from the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for Guinea-Bissau ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Djurtus. The team left on Sunday after securing a 2-1 victory over Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday.

This match marks their second Group L encounter, with Guinea-Bissau currently leading the group following a 2-0 win over Tanzania. Coach Eric Chelle and his players conducted their final training session in Nigeria on Sunday morning before boarding a chartered flight to Bissau.

The Super Eagles are set to play at the 24 de Setembro National Stadium on Tuesday, September 29. Historically, Guinea-Bissau has faced Nigeria four times, with their only victory occurring in 2023 during the AFCON qualifiers.

The stakes are high for Nigeria, as only the top team in Group L will qualify for AFCON 2027, with Tanzania already assured a spot as co-hosts.
