Nigeria's Responsible Gaming Network Launches Helpline

The Africa Responsible Gaming Network (ARGN) launched its Nigerian Chapter in Ikeja, Lagos, following its continental establishment. The ARGN, comprising 21 members from 11 countries, aims to promote collaboration and coordinated responses to gambling-related harm.
A toll-free helpline, 0800-00-GETHELP, was unveiled to assist individuals facing gambling-related issues without cost barriers. Seun Abimbola, Programme Director of the Responsible Gaming Against Addiction Foundation (RGAAF), stated that the ARGN was formed through collaboration among responsible gaming stakeholders in Nigeria and other African nations.
The network focuses on four key areas: awareness and prevention, research and evidence, policy development, and treatment support. November has been designated as Safer Gambling Awareness Month, and the Problem Gambling Severity Index (PGSI) will be used to assess gambling behavior risks.
Gabriel Akpabio, founder of Gamble Aware NG, warned that the rapid growth of online gambling is outpacing player protection measures.
