The Joint Revenue Board announced that 21 states in Nigeria have harmonised their tax laws, passing the Model Harmonised Taxes and Levies Law. This follows the Federal Government's implementation guidelines for the new Tax Acts 2025, effective January 1, 2026.

Twenty-one states have adopted new tax harmonisation laws signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The Joint Revenue Board aims to eliminate roadblock tax collection in collaboration with the police, streamlining taxes from 100 to nine categories.
