African Air Forces Enhance Cooperation at Ramstein Conference

The Association of African Air Forces (AAAF) convened a Planning Conference at Ramstein Air Base in Germany from 31 August to 4 September 2026. The event, hosted by USAFE-AFAFRICA, aimed to enhance cooperation among African air forces and implement decisions from the 2026 African Air Chiefs' Symposium in Tunisia.

Delegates reviewed and updated the AAAF Procedures Manual and the Strategic Plan 2027–2034, establishing a three-year roadmap leading up to AAAFEX 2029. Strategic communication was identified as a key focus, with discussions on building a coherent digital presence and consistent messaging across English, French, and Portuguese.

The conference also addressed the preservation of institutional knowledge by proposing dedicated Public Affairs and Continuity Manager positions within the Permanent Secretariat. The presence of SICOFAA representatives facilitated the sharing of best practices for multilateral cooperation.

The conference concluded with a review of action items and recommendations for AAAF leadership to strengthen coordination and institutional development.
