African Alliance Insurance Plc (NGX: AFRINSURE) has issued a market update clarifying its position following a publication by NGX Regulation Limited (NGX RegCo) referencing a report titled 'Forty-Three Insurance Firms Scale NAICOM's Recapitalization Hurdle,' published on August 3, 2026.
The company disclosed that it was under a regulatory order until June 16, 2026, on which date control of the company was formally returned to its shareholders. The filing did not specify the nature or origin of the regulatory order.
Following the handover, the Board and Management commenced engagements with the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) concerning the company's recapitalisation programme. African Alliance Insurance has since submitted its capital raising plan to NAICOM and stated it is currently awaiting further regulatory directives before implementation can proceed.
The company affirmed its commitment to complying with all applicable regulatory requirements and pledged to continue working closely with NAICOM on next steps. It also committed to keeping the NGX, shareholders, and the investing public informed of material developments in line with NGX Issuers' Rules and other applicable regulations.
