Keyamo Appointed to Lead $7bn African Aviation Program

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development of Nigeria, has been appointed by the African Development Bank to lead the newly launched $7 billion Aviation Transformation Programme in Africa. This initiative aims to revitalize the continent's aviation sector and was announced in a statement issued on Wednesday in Brazzaville, Congo.

The appointment follows the recognition of Nigeria's leadership vision and the implementation of policy reforms designed to transform the country's aviation industry. Keyamo is expected to bring his knowledge, commitment, and passion to drive the program across Africa.

The African Development Bank expressed gratitude for Keyamo's commitment to advancing aviation throughout the continent. The programme aims to modernize Africa's aviation ecosystem and mobilize private sector investment, addressing the current situation where African airlines account for less than three percent of global air traffic, despite the continent housing nearly 18 percent of the world's population.
