Cross River State Assembly Removes Local Government Chairman for Misconduct

The Cross River State House of Assembly has formally removed Hon. Theresa Ushi Ushi, the chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Area, following a six-month suspension for alleged gross misconduct and misappropriation of funds.

The decision came after investigations revealed corruption, abuse of office, and arbitrary actions by Ushi. The Assembly directed the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) to conduct a bye-election within 30 days to fill the vacant position.
