After court order, INEC includes SDP as parties gear up for by-elections today

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has included the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the upcoming by-elections following a court order. The Federal High Court in Abuja directed INEC to include the party's candidate in the election taking place in 12 states.

INEC Chairman Sam Olumekun stated that the commission received the judgment and would comply with it. The by-elections are scheduled to take place today in two senatorial districts in Anambra and Edo States, as well as in five federal constituencies and nine state constituencies across various states.

Security agencies have expressed readiness to provide security for the process. In Kaduna State, political parties have concluded their campaigns amidst accusations of election rigging and heightened security measures.

The police have announced restrictions on movement in certain areas to ensure public safety during the elections.INEC has also deployed sensitive materials for the polls in various states to ensure a smooth and credible electoral process.
