By-Elections: INEC Distributes Sensitive Materials For Edo Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distributed sensitive materials for the upcoming by-elections in Edo State. The distribution exercise took place at the Benin branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria, with political party representatives and civil society organizations present to observe the proceedings.

The Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner emphasized the importance of involving all political parties fielding candidates in the process to ensure transparency. Meanwhile, the factional National Chairman of the Labour Party criticized the party's 2023 presidential candidate for directing supporters to vote for the African Democratic Congress, citing internal party crisis.

In response, another party member urged Labour Party members to disregard the directive and accused the former Governor of Anambra State of causing turmoil within the party.
