INEC Complies with Court Judgement, Says SDP Will Participate in By-election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced its compliance with a court judgment, stating that the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate will participate in the upcoming by-elections in 12 states. The Federal High Court in Abuja had ordered INEC to include the SDP candidate in the election, after the party had failed to submit a valid notice of primary election.

INEC assured the public that the judgment would not affect the election scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025. Meanwhile, in Kano State, a fierce battle is expected between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP).

Both parties have a history of clashes, and security measures have been put in place to prevent violence during the election. INEC in Kano State has expressed readiness for the election, with sensitive materials already dispatched to designated locations.
