After Tinubu’s $100k Pledge, NFF Officials Accused of Targeting Falcons’ WAFCON $1m Prize Money

Nigeria's Super Falcons secured their 13th Women Africa Cup Nations (WAFCON) title by defeating host country Morocco in the final at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat. Following their victory, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu pledged $1 million in prize money to the team.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also promised additional financial rewards to motivate the players. However, Africa football journalist Osasu Obayiuwana alleged that some NFF officials were planning to shortchange the athletes of their prize money.

This accusation came after reports of Tinubu's generous reward to the team. Despite the controversy, the Super Falcons celebrated their victory and received accolades for their performance in the tournament.

Additionally, Ondo State Governor also rewarded one of the team's players with a million dollars and a fully furnished apartment.
