Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu's Economic Policies

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, accused President Bola Tinubu of exacerbating the cost of living crisis in Nigeria through his economic policies. In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, on Sunday, Atiku claimed that Tinubu's administration has eroded purchasing power and increased the costs of fuel, food, and transportation.

He criticized the removal of the fuel subsidy, stating that it has led to rising prices and weakened businesses. Atiku provided specific examples of price increases, noting that fertilizer prices have surged from about N9,000 to N50,000, petrol from N199 to N1,400 per litre, and cement from N4,000 to N13,500.

He emphasized that Nigerians are facing economic hardship and called for immediate relief rather than appeals for patience, proposing a production subsidy to support domestic production and alleviate financial burdens on citizens.
