REA Allocates ₦3.2bn for Mini-Grid Project in Bauchi

The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has achieved a significant milestone in its mission to close the energy gap in underserved communities by disbursing ₦3.2 billion for a 1.2MWp mini-grid project in Bauchi State. This funding, allocated to Zanoplu Capital, is earmarked for the rapid deployment of solar mini-grid projects across strategic locations in the state.

This latest financial milestone follows a previous disbursement of ₦7.4 billion to Ventura Logistics Services for a 7MW mini-grid initiative. The REA's efforts are part of a broader strategy to catalyze private sector participation and support indigenous financial institutions.

A landmark memorandum of understanding was signed in February with Lotu Bank to establish a ₦100 billion revolving credit facility aimed at developing access to ₦8 billion for equipment procurement. The project, which includes specific allocations of 450kWp for Gabarin East, 400kWp for Futuk, 200kWp for Gangala Wai, and 150kWp for Daburai Gabarin West, will operate independently of the national grid, providing reliable clean energy to numerous end-users in isolated regions.
