ASCSN Ends Strike, Reopens Federal Unity Colleges Nationwide

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) has suspended its strike concerning the concession of King’s College, Lagos, enabling the reopening of 115 Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria. This decision was made during a meeting in Kano, where union leaders, including those from the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, agreed to allow a seven-member committee to review the concession document.

The strike had initially led to a shutdown of all Unity Colleges, with demands for the Federal Government to reverse the concession of King’s College to its Old Boys Association. The colleges were set to resume on September 13, but the ASCSN had called for a boycott.

The committee will include two representatives from ASCSN, and the concession has been put on hold pending the committee's report. The Parent Teacher Association welcomed the strike suspension and proposed September 27 for students to return to school.
