Yobe APC Aspirants Demand Transparent Primaries

Aggrieved aspirants for the Yobe APC governorship, including Engr. Mustapha Yunusa Maihaja, Hon.

Bashir Machina, and Barrister Kashim Musa Tumsah, addressed journalists in Damaturu, representing a group they identified as G3. They expressed concerns over the imposition of candidates, which they claim violates APC constitutional provisions and the Electoral Act.

The group warned that they would challenge the outcomes of the primaries if due process is not followed. They emphasized the need for a transparent process that allows party members to freely vote for their preferred candidates, rather than having candidates imposed through consensus that lacks genuine consultation.

The aspirants insisted that the primaries must adhere strictly to the Electoral Act and party guidelines to avoid jeopardizing the party's participation in the general elections. They pledged to support whoever emerges from a transparent and fair primary election, stating that anything less would not be acceptable.
