AGRA Opens Applications for 2026 Women Agripreneur Award

The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) has officially opened applications for the 2026 Women Agripreneur of the Year Award (WAYA) during an event marking International Women's Day in Maputo, Mozambique. This award, launched in 2021, aims to spotlight women demonstrating innovative leadership in agribusiness across Africa.

AGRA President Alic Ruhweza emphasized the importance of women's contributions to the agrifood system, noting that women make up nearly half of the agrifood workforce in Sub-Saharan Africa. The award winners will receive a grant of $300,000 to scale their enterprises and expand their impact.

The application process for the 2026 award will close on May 8, 2026, with winners announced at the Africa Food System Forum scheduled for September in Kigali, Rwanda. Last year's award attracted nearly 2,000 applications from various countries, showcasing the innovative contributions of women in agriculture.
