IFAD Advocates for Youth and Women in Agriculture

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) concluded its 49th session in Rome, advocating for strategic investments in youth and women in agriculture. Senator Abubakar Kyari, who was elected chairperson of IFAD's governing council, highlighted the critical role of youth in job creation and innovation.

Kyari expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by member states and reaffirmed his commitment to addressing food security. He emphasized the importance of empowering rural women and men to unlock economic opportunities and foster inclusive growth.

President Bola Tinubu's mandate prioritizes food security in Nigeria, aligning with IFAD's goals to strengthen agricultural production and expand opportunities for youth and women. The session featured contributions from Dr. Álvaro Lario and Toni Elumelu, who underscored the transformative role of young innovators in rural economies.

The event also recognized the urgent need for strategic investments in water security and climate resilience to adapt agricultural infrastructure.
