Sahel Consulting Launches Dairy Initiative for 15,000 Farmers

Sahel Consulting Agriculture and Nutrition Ltd, led by Managing Partner Mr. Temi Adegoroye, has launched the Advancing Local Dairy Development in Nigeria (ALDDN) initiative, targeting 15,000 local dairy farmers and 120,000 beneficiaries across seven states, including Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Plateau, Bauchi, Adamawa, and Taraba. The five-year program, funded by the Gates Foundation, aims to enhance productivity, nutrition, and livelihoods among smallholder women dairy farmers.

Key objectives include creating an enabling environment for local milk sourcing, improving access to technical support, empowering women dairy farmers, enhancing nutrition, and fostering collaboration between government and private-sector stakeholders. The initiative also promotes financial inclusion for women through partnerships with financial institutions and supports infrastructure development, including solar-powered boreholes and milk collection facilities.

Alhaji Sanusi Abdullahi, Managing Director of SAJ Foods Ltd, noted that ALDDN has strengthened linkages among farmers, cooperatives, and development partners, contributing to improved dairy productivity and market access.
