Kaduna Ranch Development Company Enhances Livestock Feed

The Kaduna government is taking steps to boost livestock feed production by integrating lessons from the ALDDN programme into its livestock development framework. Dr Ibrahim Yusuf, Managing Director of Kaduna Ranch Development Company Ltd., announced this at the ALDDN State-Level Close-Out event in Zaria.

He highlighted the challenge of ensuring quality livestock feed availability year-round and mentioned that the company is working on 600 hectares of the Damau Grazing Reserve in Kubau Local Government Area, with 110 hectares already developed for high-quality feed production. The state plans to address feed challenges through revitalization of grazing reserves and improved pasture development.

Alhaji Murtala Mohammed-Dabo, represented by Mr Amwe Akos, stated that the government would sustain the gains achieved through ALDDN, with initiatives included in the proposed 2027 budget. The programme, funded by the Gates Foundation and implemented by Sahel Consulting, aimed to improve productivity and livelihoods among smallholder dairy farmers across seven states.
