Ahmadu Bello Foundation Sympathizes with Kano Market Fire Victims

The Ahmadu Bello Foundation has expressed its condolences to the people of Kano State following a devastating fire at the Singer market, which resulted in significant losses estimated at N5 billion and impacted around 1,000 businesses. In a statement released on Monday, signed by the foundation's director, Gener Abubakar Umar, the organization commended the swift response of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and his efforts in managing the emergency.

Despite the challenges faced, the foundation stressed the importance of strengthening preventive emergency measures to avert future occurrences. Recommendations included conducting regular safety inspections, installing and maintaining functional firefighting and fire detection systems, establishing rapid response protocols, and redesigning the market layout to ensure unobstructed access for emergency services.

The foundation extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and underscored the urgency of proactive steps to minimize risks and safeguard lives and properties in public markets.
