AI's Role in Crisis Management: Insights from Tijani

During a keynote address in Lagos, Dr. Bosun Tijani, Nigeria's Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, discussed the significant impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on crisis management and the economy.

He stated that AI can turn crises into opportunities for economic development, urging organizations to proactively manage AI-generated crises. Tijani emphasized the necessity for people to understand the distinction between organizations and individuals in crisis management, advocating for preparedness to handle AI-induced challenges.

He noted that misinformation spreads rapidly, with false information circulating six times faster than the truth, and highlighted that nearly 70 percent of leaders are unprepared for crises. Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, a lead partner at CMC Connect, introduced a crisis management platform called CrisisX, designed to empower organizations to act swiftly during crises.

The conference included discussions on the implications of AI in crisis management and the need for coordinated responses to address emerging threats effectively.
