Akwa Ibom Government Denies EFCC Involvement in Seizure

The Akwa Ibom State Government has refuted allegations that Governor Umo Eno was involved in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission's (EFCC) seizure of a Lagos property purportedly owned by former Governor Udom Emmanuel. This response came after Senator John Akpanudoedehe, the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate, accused Eno of reporting Emmanuel to the EFCC regarding the alleged illegal acquisition of the property.

Aniekan Umanah, the State Commissioner for Information, issued a statement on Sunday in Uyo, describing the accusations as “false, reckless and without foundation.” Umanah emphasized that Governor Eno has never reported anyone to the EFCC and has maintained respect for his predecessors. He criticized the political rhetoric aimed at inciting public unrest and reiterated the government's commitment to governance and development, focusing on the ARISE Agenda, which includes infrastructure and social projects.
