Nigerian Air Force Enhances Security for Students

During a visit to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, Air Marshal Sundai Anek, the Chief of Air Staff, emphasized the Nigerian Air Force's commitment to safeguarding students nationwide. He acknowledged the logistical challenges posed by Nigeria's vast terrain but stressed the importance of protecting students in tertiary institutions.

Anek highlighted the need for rapid response capabilities, especially in remote areas, and urged the public for patience as security personnel work diligently to respond to emergencies. Sonni Echono, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, outlined measures to enhance campus safety, including security fencing and improved visibility on campuses.

He noted the establishment of a special intervention line for security infrastructure funding, marking the first time such allocations have been made. The initiative aims to address rising concerns over kidnappings and violent attacks that disrupt education and instill fear among students and staff.
