NAF Enhances Anti-Terror Capabilities with New Facilities

On February 13, 2026, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced the completion of new pilot accommodation facilities at its base in Kaduna, aimed at bolstering its capabilities in the ongoing war against terrorism. Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sundai Kelvin Anek described the newly completed student pilot quarters as a strategic investment in preparing aviators to operate modern platforms for counter-terrorism missions.

The initiative is expected to enhance precision air operations nationwide. Air Marshal Anek emphasized that the development extends beyond infrastructure, aligning with the command's philosophy to maintain a highly motivated and mission-ready force capable of delivering coordinated air and ground operations in support of national security objectives.

The NAF has engaged with the United States, Italy, and Turkey to fast-track the procurement of 24 M-346 fighter ground attack aircraft, 12 AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters, and 10 AW-109 Trekker helicopters. These acquisitions aim to improve close air support and rapid response operations against insurgents and bandits.

Additionally, the facilities include six blocks of student pilot quarters and a military training center to enhance operational readiness.
