Nigeria to Increase Airfares with $11.5 Levy Per Ticket from Dec. 1, 2025

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is imposing an additional $11.5 charge per ticket from December 1, 2025, to enhance security measures. This new levy, known as the Advance Passenger Information System (API) charge, aims to streamline passenger clearance processes at Nigerian airports.

Airlines operating in Nigeria will be required to update their ticket reservation systems to reflect the new API charge. The levy will exempt certain passengers like infants, diplomats, airline crew, and transit passengers within 24 hours.

The system is expected to help track passenger movements, improve border control, and provide airlines with a cost recovery mechanism.
