Airline Operators Place Ibom Air Passenger Emmanson On Lifetime ‘No Fly’ Ban

Airline operators in Nigeria have placed Comfort Emmanson on a lifetime 'no fly' ban after alleged violent and disruptive behavior on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos on August 10, 2025. The incident involved Emmanson assaulting a crew member, refusing to comply with safety instructions, and attempting to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon, endangering passengers, crew, and the aircraft.

AON spokesperson Obiora Okonkwo described the incident as one of the most severe cases of unruly passenger behavior witnessed this year. The airline's swift response to the incident was commended, with similar sanctions being applied to passengers engaging in such conduct.

This move comes amidst calls for increased security at airports to curb the rising cases of violent passenger behavior. Emmanson is currently remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre following a court order issued on Monday.
