Airtel Nigeria Expands Network and Accelerates 5G and Fiber Technology to Meet Data Demand

Airtel Nigeria is undergoing significant network infrastructure and technology upgrades to cater to the increasing data demand in Nigeria. The company's Chief Executive Officer, Dinesh Balsingh, highlighted the strategic focus on scaling, depth, and resilience to position Airtel as a leader in providing quality telecommunications services in the country.

Airtel has been investing in expanding its network footprint, increasing the number of network sites, and enhancing its 4G mobile broadband capacity, resulting in a nationwide 4G network operation. The company is also accelerating its 5G rollout, with plans to connect the top 20 Nigerian cities to high-speed 5G networks.

Additionally, Airtel is expanding its fiber infrastructure across almost all states and leveraging partnerships with Oneweb and Starlink to deliver satellite-enabled connectivity for enterprises and remote communities. Airtel's initiatives include launching Nigeria's second internet breakout point in Eko Atlantic to improve internet traffic routing and support robust cloud services, including AI-driven applications and data centers.
