Airtel Africa Tests Starlink Mobile Services in Kenya

Airtel Africa announced the successful testing of Starlink Mobile's data and messaging services in Kenya, a significant step towards providing satellite mobile connectivity to millions across its 14 markets, including Nigeria. The tests were conducted in areas lacking terrestrial mobile network signals, demonstrating Starlink Mobile's capability to seamlessly activate and allow 4G-compatible smartphones to access its constellation of 650 launched satellites.

Sunil Taldar, Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Africa, expressed excitement about this development, highlighting it as a testament to their commitment to expanding global access. The insights gained from the Kenya tests will inform Airtel Africa's plans to expand services across its markets, including Nigeria, with country-specific approvals.

Additionally, Airtel plans to leverage Starlink Mobile's V2 technology to enable broadband directly to mobile phones and expand voice call capabilities.
