Aisha Yesufu Joins NDC, Eyes FCT Senate Seat in 2027

Aisha Yesufu, a prominent activist, has officially resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and declared her intention to contest for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senate seat in the 2027 general elections. Yesufu made this announcement on Wednesday, citing her renewed conviction in Nigeria's political future and alignment with the vision of former presidential candidate Peter Obi.

She emphasized that her decision to support Obi influenced her move from the ADC to the NDC. Yesufu expressed gratitude to the ADC for the opportunities she had while serving in various capacities, including as a sub-committee chair and deputy committee chair.

Her defection comes amid ongoing political realignments within Nigeria's opposition space, following similar moves by Peter Obi and former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the NDC.
