Aisha Yesufu Discusses NDC Senate Ticket Loss Reasons

Aisha Yesufu, a prominent activist, disclosed the factors that led to her unsuccessful attempt to secure the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Senate ticket for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). She stated that the primary process was marred by a lack of transparency and fairness, as the party did not conduct an open competitive primary.

Yesufu noted that the process was repeatedly postponed, and the venue was changed at the last minute, which she claimed favored predetermined outcomes rather than allowing the people to choose their representatives. Despite these challenges, she clarified that she has not quit the race nor intends to challenge the matter in court, preferring to withdraw from a system she believes is designed to wear people down.

Yesufu emphasized the importance of remaining calm and supportive of the NDC, despite its internal shortcomings, as she continues to build a credible grassroots network for future political endeavors.
