Ondo Governor Aiyedatiwa Pays N3.82bn Gratuities to Retirees

On a recent date, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa launched the payment of N3.82 billion in gratuities to 985 retirees from the state public service. This payment includes 509 retirees from the 2020 batch and 476 from the 2015 to 2019 batches.

The retirees are drawn from the mainstream civil service, secondary school teaching and non-teaching staff, and parastatals. Governor Aiyedatiwa described the payment as “a debt of honour” and acknowledged that his administration inherited significant gratuity obligations.

He emphasized the importance of addressing these inherited challenges alongside initiating new projects. The Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Pension Transition Office, Dr. Peter Akingbade, confirmed that retirees from various batches were receiving their full gratuity entitlements.

He credited the governor's commitment to improving the welfare of senior citizens and acknowledged the contributions of the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac, and the Head of Service, Sir Segun Odusanya, in this initiative.
