Oyo State Begins ₦3 Billion Gratuity Payment to Retirees

The Local Government Staff Pension Board (LGSPB) has commenced the distribution of ₦3 billion in gratuities to more than 1,000 retired primary school teachers, local government workers, and the next of kin of deceased pensioners in Oyo State. The flag-off ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Local Government Staff Training School in Ibadan.

Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Chairman of the Board, announced that the payment was approved by Governor Seyi Makinde, emphasizing the administration's commitment to the welfare of retired workers.

He urged residents to support the Makinde administration and advised retirees to use their benefits wisely to avoid fraud. Tpl.

Olufemi Akinwale, Permanent Secretary of the LGSPB, noted the Governor's commitment to pensioners, highlighting the recent approval of a Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) where the state will contribute 12% and enrollees 8%. The event included symbolic cheque presentations to beneficiaries, who expressed gratitude for the support.
