Ondo Governor Aiyedatiwa Enrolls Amotekun in Insurance Plans

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the enrollment of operatives from the Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun, into a contributory health insurance scheme and a pension scheme under the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund. This decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the state Commissioner for Information, Idowu Ajanaku.

The initiative is part of the state government's efforts to improve the welfare of personnel involved in security operations across Ondo State. Governor Aiyedatiwa aims to boost the morale of security operatives and enhance their commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the state.

Additionally, the governor approved the issuance of service warrants to enlist personnel from the agency, pending the completion of the required legal framework. This move is expected to strengthen the institutional framework and improve operational efficiency, benefiting the pension and social insurance scheme alongside existing life insurance policies.

Furthermore, 650 operatives are being deployed across 18 local government areas in the state ahead of the Eid el-Kabir celebrations to maintain security during the festivities.
