Aiyedatiwa Calls for Action Against Child Abuse in Ondo

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa urged stakeholders to unite against child abuse and trafficking during a press briefing on the upcoming 2026 National Children's Day celebration. Dr.

Seun Osamay, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, emphasized the importance of nurturing and protecting children to ensure they become responsible citizens. Aiyedatiwa's administration is committed to implementing policies prioritizing child welfare, healthcare delivery, and education.

The rising cases of child abuse, neglect, and trafficking pose serious threats to the future of children in the state, necessitating urgent collective action. The theme for this year's celebration focuses on inclusivity, ensuring no child is left behind.

Activities planned include a children's parliament, oratory competitions, talent hunts, and cultural displays. Additionally, Mr.

Oluyemi Ibiloy from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps warned against increasing attacks on schools, calling for collaborative efforts to safeguard children. Dr.

Abiodun Oyeneyin revealed that 52,000 women and children have benefited from the state's free healthcare scheme since 2019.
