Aiyedatiwa Promises Action Against Kidnappers in Ondo

On Tuesday, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State pledged to take decisive action against kidnappers and their sponsors amid increasing security concerns in the region. During a meeting with leaders from the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria and other stakeholders, Aiyedatiwa expressed alarm over the recent surge in kidnappings, noting three cases in the past two months.

He disclosed that security agencies have arrested 90 suspects connected to kidnapping-related crimes in the state. Aiyedatiwa emphasized that any individual, regardless of their business legitimacy, found to be involved in criminal activities would face consequences, and he urged traditional rulers and community leaders to caution youth against engaging in crime.

He also highlighted the need for collaboration with herder associations to identify criminals hiding among legitimate cattle rearers. The governor's remarks followed a protest in the Ilu Abo area, where he warned that such demonstrations could be exploited by hoodlums.
