Ondo State Intensifies Crackdown on Kidnapping Syndicates

The Ondo State Government has directed security agencies to intensify operations against kidnapping syndicates in response to a recent increase in kidnapping incidents. A statement issued on Tuesday by the Ministry of Information, attributed to Idowu Ajanaku, revealed that investigations indicated that some attacks were orchestrated by local collaborators aiming to portray the state as unsafe.

The government expressed deep concern over these criminal activities, which it believes aim to create panic and damage the state's image. It warned that such actions are unacceptable and will be met with firm legal action.

The government has mandated an immediate clampdown on individuals and groups involved in these activities, ensuring that those found culpable are apprehended, investigated, and prosecuted according to the law. Significant investments have been made to strengthen the state's security architecture, including the provision of vehicles and logistical support for agencies and the construction of a crime control center.

The Amotekun Corps has recently recruited 500 personnel to enhance intelligence gathering and rapid response operations. Traditional rulers have been urged to remain vigilant and monitor activities within their domains, reporting any suspicious movements to security agencies to protect lives and property.
