Ajogwu Launches Book on Corporate Governance Framework

Professor Fabian Ajogwu, SAN, presented his new book at Lagos Business School on a public lecture held last week. The book introduces a governance framework designed to enhance corporate purpose and operational standards.

Ajogwu, a senior partner at Kenna and a professor at Lagos Business School, outlined a four-layer governance framework that helps boards assess their organization's purpose beyond mere mission statements. He emphasized the importance of establishing an ethical foundation across six core governance components.

The framework aims to provide methods for evaluating whether corporations genuinely create value for shareholders, people, and the planet. Ajogwu's work addresses the failures of organizations that declare purpose without proper structure.

The event featured remarks from Vice Chancellor Professor Enas Okonedo and a review by Professor Olayinka David West. Ralph Mupita, CEO of MTN Group, highlighted the need for deeper corporate purpose in African markets.

The book is expected to shape the training of directors and enhance corporate governance in Nigeria.
