Akeredolu’s Wife Announces Imo East Senatorial Bid

The wife of the Ondo State Governor, Akeredolu, has officially announced her candidacy for the Imo East senatorial seat, seeking the Labour Party ticket. Speaking to journalists in Owerri on Saturday, she dismissed concerns regarding her eligibility and reaffirmed her roots in Imo State.

She highlighted a leadership gap in the district and criticized the disconnect between federal lawmakers and grassroots governance. Akeredolu emphasized the importance of addressing issues such as breast cancer awareness and treatment accessibility.

She expressed her motivation to return to partisan politics to make a broader impact through public office and called for increased female participation in politics. Notably, she previously contested for the same senatorial seat in 2023 under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and is now seeking a fresh mandate with the Labour Party.
