Sevilla FC Sacks Coach Mat Almeyda After Valencia Defeat

Sevilla FC has parted ways with head coach Mat Almeyda after a disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Valencia CF, which has left the team in 15th place in La Liga, just three points above the relegation zone with nine matches remaining. The change in management presents an opportunity for Nigerian players Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke to reset their roles within the club.

Adams, who is Sevilla's leading scorer this season with seven league goals in 24 appearances, was absent during the Valencia clash due to questions regarding his display against FC Barcelona. Ejuke, who has been chasing a more significant role, will also hope to regain confidence under new management.

Almeyda's absence has been felt in recent weeks, as he served a seven-match touchline ban for confronting officials, which began in mid-February. The international break offers Sevilla a chance to regroup before a crucial match against fellow strugglers Real Oviedo on April 5.
