Sevilla FC Sacks Coach Matías Almeyda Amid Poor Performance

Sevilla FC announced the dismissal of head coach Matías Almeyda on Monday after a poor performance that has left the team in 15th place in La Liga, only three points above the relegation zone. Almeyda, a 52-year-old former Argentina international, joined Sevilla in July 2023 on a three-year contract.

The club expressed gratitude for Almeyda's efforts and professionalism in a brief statement but did not mention any potential replacements or interim coaches ahead of the upcoming two-week international break. Almeyda began his coaching career at River Plate in 2011 and managed AEK Athens from 2022 to 2025 before his appointment at Sevilla.
