Akpabio's Kinsmen Deny Anti-North Remarks Allegations

The Aegi Isong Annang Ethnic Forum in Akwa Ibom State issued a statement on Monday defending Senator Godswill Akpabio against allegations made by social media activist Haruna Gololo. Gololo claimed in a viral video that Akpabio made disrespectful comments towards the North, suggesting that without Northern support, Bola Tinubu could not win the 2027 presidential election.

The forum, led by Princ Mendi Archibong and including Elder Mfon Ebong and Hon. Emilia Udom, stated that an investigation into the claims found them to be false and malicious, aimed at damaging Akpabio's reputation.

They emphasized Akpabio's commitment to fostering unity among Nigerians, regardless of tribe or faith, and urged Northern leaders to disregard the divisive campaign. The forum reiterated its support for Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027 and highlighted Akpabio's history of respect for Nigeria's cultural and religious diversity.
