Senate Denies Akpabio's Claim on Northern Votes for Tinubu

The Senate of Nigeria, through its president's office, has refuted claims made by Godswill Akpabio, which suggested that the North must vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential elections or risk being expelled from the country. The Senate's office described these allegations as completely false and a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension ahead of political activities leading to the elections.

The statement, issued in Abuja on Wednesday, emphasized that Akpabio, who is the Senate President, never made such remarks. Jibril Tafida, Akpabio's special adviser on diaspora and non-governmental organizations, was also mentioned in the context of these claims.

The Senate's office called for security agencies to investigate and arrest Garu Gololo, who appeared in the viral video making these allegations, and condemned the spread of misinformation that could incite ethnic tensions in Nigeria.
