AGF Defends Prosecution Over Defamation Charges in Nigeria

The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) defended the decision to file defamation charges against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, alleging that her actions against Senator Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello violated the nation's penal code. The charges stemmed from Akpoti-Uduaghan's claims of an assassination attempt involving the two political figures.

The AGF argued that the prosecution was in the public interest to prevent legal process abuse. The case is ongoing in the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja.
