Akume Urges NUPRC Board to Ensure Corporate Governance

On Tuesday, during the inauguration of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) board in Abuja, George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, charged the board members to uphold the highest standards of corporate governance and ensure accountability in their operations. This event marked a significant milestone in the federal government's efforts to strengthen governance frameworks and deepen sector reforms in the petroleum industry.

Akume noted that the establishment of the NUPRC board is a critical step in implementing the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) and enhancing regulatory clarity. He emphasized that the board is expected to provide strategic oversight and policy direction to stabilize the sector, enhance investor confidence, and promote sustainable development.

Akume reiterated the federal government's commitment to managing Nigeria's petroleum resources transparently and efficiently, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's agenda for strong institutional governance and rule of law.
