Akwa Ibom's Victor Attah Airport Upgraded to International Status

The Federal Government has upgraded Victor Attah Airport in Akwa Ibom to an international airport, aiming for full international operations and modern facilities. Minister Festus Keyamo announced the decision during a meeting with Governor Umo Eno in Abuja.

The airport will undergo the necessary processes to cater to international passengers, with various government agencies collaborating on the transition. Plans include constructing a cargo terminal, residential buildings for staff, and ensuring a conducive ecosystem around the airport.

The state government is committed to completing these developments by the first quarter of 2026 to enhance Akwa Ibom's aviation profile.
