Umo Eno Reports ₦98 Billion Gratuity Payments in Akwa Ibom
In a state broadcast commemorating the 39th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Umo Eno reported that his administration has paid more than ₦98 billion of the approximately ₦111 billion in inherited gratuities and other emoluments. Eno highlighted ongoing investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth development as part of the ARISE Agenda.
Since May 29, 2023, his administration has worked on over 1,500 kilometers of roads and 43 bridges, focusing on extending infrastructure to rural communities. In education, free and compulsory education has been maintained, with ₦1.69 billion in bursaries disbursed and 3,000 teachers recruited.
The transformation of the Akwa Ibom College of Education into a University of Education is also underway. In healthcare, 258,000 individuals are enrolled in a state-run medical insurance scheme.
Looking forward, Eno plans to emphasize industrialization, agro-industrialization, and tourism, reaffirming commitments to projects like the Ibom Deep Seaport and Ibom Air.
